Preservation of springs and reduction of water losses

Water is a natural resource essential for life, being indispensable for human, animal and plant survival. However, with population growth and the excessive use of these resources, reduction of water losses becomes a necessity for today and for the future.

You water sources, such as rivers, lakes, dams and aquifers, are the main natural sources of water. The degradation of these sources directly impacts water supply and biodiversity, making it crucial to implement policies and technologies for their preservation.

Actions needed to reduce water losses

Deforestation control

Deforestation contributes to soil erosion, river silting and reduced water penetration into the soil, reducing the volume of water available in water sources.

Combating pollution

Improper disposal of waste and chemicals affects water quality, impacting human health and aquatic ecosystems.

Environmental education

Raising awareness among the population about responsible consumption and correct waste disposal is crucial for the preservation of natural resources.

Reduction of water losses in distribution

Mitigating water losses is essential for efficient supply systems. Leaks in distribution networks, fraud and operational failures represent a huge waste of natural resources. When these losses are reduced through modernization of infrastructure and adoption of advanced technologies, the need for collection from water sources also decreases.

When these losses are reduced through modernization of infrastructure and adoption of advanced technologies, the need for collection from water sources also decreases.

Today, Brazil loses about 40% of captured water from water sources before it reaches the taps. This means that almost half of the treated water is lost due to leaks, fraud and infrastructure failures.

What can be done to reduce losses that occur before the water even reaches the consumer?

If we reduced just 20% of the lost water, there would already be enough water to supply the 35 million Brazilians that today has no drinking water.

According to the Trata Brazil Institute, this reality represents a major challenge for sanitation efficiency, requiring investments in infrastructure and technology to reduce waste and improve water security in the country.

To change this reality, some actions are fundamental:

Infrastructure modernization

The renewal of distribution networks involves replacing old pipes with more efficient materials and using technologies that improve control and efficiency in supply.

Leak detection technology

Solutions based on IoT and Artificial Intelligence identify invisible leaks and enable rapid interventions that avoid waste.

Intelligent management of water resources

The use of data and automation in the operation of distribution systems improves sanitation efficiency and reduces operating costs.

Expected results

Reducing water losses is an important measure to ensure the availability of drinking water for the population. Furthermore, it contributes to reducing the operating costs of sanitation companies and preserving water sources.

About Stattus4

A Status4 is a cleantech focused on sanitation and with the mission of applying technology to preserve the essential: water.

With Artificial Intelligence and IoT Sensing, we develop solutions – the Ada System and the 4Fluid – which transform field data into useful information that indicates potential leaks in water distribution networks. This information contributes to the digitalization of sanitation processes and is important for making operational and strategic decisions.
