Stattus4 advances on Journey with SANEPAR: Expanding Pressure Monitoring to Reduce Water Losses in over 2,500km of Network
Srocaba, March 1, 2024 – The search for efficiency and process optimization is a constant in any organization. In the case of the Paraná Sanitation Company (SANEPAR), the need for innovation and technology to reduce and control water leaks has become a priority.
A Status4, a cleantech focused on detecting leaks in water distribution using Artificial Intelligence, is advancing on this technological journey with SANEPAR.
Start of the Sanepar Startups Project
Founded in 2021 by SANEPAR in collaboration with Itaipu Technological Park (PTI-BR), The Finep – company of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae/PR) – Sanepar Startups aims to accelerate the development of startups in the water sector in Brazil.
In the first edition, Stattus4 was one of the 5 companies selected to participate in the project. Since then, Ada System, an Artificial Intelligence system focused on reducing water losses in the distribution network, has been bringing very significant results for SANEPAR.
Sanepar Startups Project: Revolutionary Reduction in Water Losses
In the Sanepar Startups Project, the Ada System was successfully implemented in two Sectors of Curitiba, here called A and B.
Before the implementation of the Ada System, Sector A had water leaks that resulted in a loss of 650 m³/connection.day at a financial cost of R$1,713.00 per day. In Sector B the daily loss was 100 m³/connection.day, generating a cost of R$265.00 per day.
After just 6 months of using the Ada System, SANEPAR has achieved incredible results. In Sector A, it was possible to recover 450 m³/connection.day, which is equivalent to a daily saving of R$1,187.00. That's right, Ada System made it possible to reduce real losses by 70% in 6 months.
While in Sector B, which already presented balanced performance indices, the Ada System enabled the recovery of 49% of water losses.
During the project, 491m³ of water were recovered per day, 98,484 kWh of electricity were saved per year, and we contributed to the reduction of 895 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year.
These impressive numbers highlight SANEPAR and Stattus4’s commitment to sustainability and environmental preservation, and this was just the beginning.
Estimated Results with Scalability to Monitor over 2,500km of Network
Given the success of the Pilot Project, the Ada System will be scaled to monitor more than 2,500km of SANEPAR's water distribution network in 2024.
According to an analysis of data from the SNIS (National Water Supply Information System) and the IWA (International Water Association), after implementation it is estimated that it will be possible to reduce losses of more than 8.3 million m³/year. This amount of water not lost implies a financial saving of 85% in the costs of chemical products and energy used in its treatment.
Marília Lara, CEO of Stattus4, emphasizes the importance of these results:
“Results such as those from the Sanepar Startups Project and the estimates of the extent of monitoring indicate that we are on the right track, creating technology to save the world's water and fostering innovation and sanitation technology to increasingly make access to drinking water a reality for the entire population.”
Stattus4 is committed to developing technologies that preserve the essential: water. And it will continue to innovate to offer solutions that digitalize the Brazilian water sector.
Meet the Ada System – Water Leak Detection with Artificial Intelligence
THE Ada System allows you to monitor field pressure, analyze trends with Artificial Intelligence and indicate potential leaks quickly and accurately through heat maps. In general, the Ada System is the water loss management solution that will transform the way water distribution operations are managed.
