Águas de Niterói uses 4Fluid and Ada to optimize loss management.
Each Stattus4 client has a story with different realities: fields behaving in different ways and various challenges.
One of the biggest problems in managing water losses is properly mapping the distribution, considering all field variables, such as unstable pressure. This was the pain presented by Concessionária Águas de Niterói, which uses our technology 4Fluid since 2019 and the Ada since 2023.
Geophonist focused on suspected leak points
As 4Fluid, Águas de Niterói changed its leak detection approach and began dedicating a team to collecting noises in the field, which allowed them to create a recorded demand for the geophone operator to focus on locations suspected of having leaks.
In addition to audio collection, 4Fluid enabled frequent field inspections and monitoring of the history of all samples to assist in the analysis of the concessionaire's results.
Results with 4Fluid
Since the start of operations with 4Fluid, 2,563 leaks were identified and confirmed. Considering an average pressure of 15 mca and that the leaks are from branch lines, the estimated recovery is 27,680 m3/day or about 12 Olympic swimming pools/day!
And how did the operation go when they acquired the Ada module?
With a vision focused on socio-environmental responsibility and excellence in the provision of basic sanitation services, Águas de Niterói is constantly looking for innovative solutions that optimize management.
Therefore, in January 2023 they implemented the Ada in 2 sectors of the city.

Each sector has approximately 12 km of network and serves about 1,100 households. In total, 40 Pascal devices were installed to measure water pressure in the region.
After the devices were installed and commissioned, Ada's Artificial Intelligence identified pressure changes in one area, marking it with a different color than other areas.
The integration of 4Fluid and Ada
The alert was sent to the Águas de Niterói losses team and they carried out a visit close to the sensor.

While scanning the area, They used 4Fluid and identified 3 (three) points of water leakage. One of them was located on a branch line and was not visible, while the others were visible on trestles.

The locations marked in blue are points where the Ada sensors indicated a drop in pressure. The point highlighted in red is the suspected invisible leak in that section, while the points in purple represent the visible leaks. See below for photos of the leaks found:

After confirmation, the team made the necessary repairs to the leaks, reducing losses of already treated water and optimizing management.
With Ada, providing continuous monitoring of the sectors, and 4Fluid, optimizing the geophone operator's scanning work, the Águas de Niterói concessionaire managed, in a matter of months, to significantly reduce real water losses.
